This summer, EXP employees and family gathered at Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts for a truly unique summer picnic including a performance by the National Symphony Orchestra of Star Wars: A New Hope.
Before the show, employees and their guests were treated to a pre-performance banquet. In true EXP fashion, this could not be a simple BBQ, but instead comprised of a Star Wars themed buffet complete with the Lightsaber Carving station, the Mac and Chee-se 3PO, and the Tatooine Taco Bar, but we made sure to leave room for dessert at the Admiral SnAckbar and the Frozen in Carbonite Liquid Nitrogen Ice Cream Bar. We had a great time hanging out with colleagues while kids (and more than a few adults) enjoyed getting their faces painted with Star Wars characters.
The real excitement came after dinner when the National Symphony Orchestra took the stage, and the movie started. It was amazing to hear how the musicians did not miss a beat as they played the score under a projection of the film. Machine Learning Engineer Casey Baker remarked, “I had never seen Star Wars, but I had such a great time with everyone that I ended up watching the rest of the trilogy.” With a mix of Star Wars padawans and master fans, it was a blast getting to experience a classic film in a new way.
